Scholarly Service and Public Activities
As a historian and educator I am committed to serving my institution, organizations, and community. Here is a small sample of that work. For a full list of service please see my CV.
University of Arkansas Fort Smith, Civil War Lecture Series
East Central University, Rothbaum Lecture
I was thrilled to revisit East Central University in Ada, Oklahoma to present their annual Rothbaum Lecture for Constitution Day. I received my undergraduate degree from ECU in 2010 and loved every second of my time in the history department.

The Mob Museum, Collection Inspection and Cleaning Team-member
As part of my continuing education in museum and exhibit care I volunteer in the Content Department at the Mob Museum. I assist the Curator and Registrar Carolyn Fisher and the Digital Content Specialist Aaron Hain with their cleaning, inventory, and repair duties. Getting to care for items central to the “Old Vegas Story” is a delight.
Phi Alpha Theta
I have served in various leadership capacities of UNLV’s award winning Psi Sigma Chapter of Phi Alpha Theta. One special activity I coordinated was our “What to do with a History Degree?” event featuring four Public History professionals from the community. Speakers discussed careers for undergraduates who have earned history degrees and career diversity options for graduate students. This event aligned with the American Historical Association’s career diversity initiative. The event generated networking opportunities for approximately forty students. Carolyn Fisher (Curator and Register from the Mob Museum), Cynthia Behr Warso (Director of Curation and Education for the Neon Museum), Jerry White (base historian from Nellis Air Force Base), and James P. Jenson (Nevada Testing and Training Range) explained how the skills that a history degree imparts transfer into a wide variety of workplaces.
Preserve Nevada, 11 Most Endangered Places list
In service to Nevada’s oldest historic preservation organization, as Deputy Director I worked with the board to create the list and was a spokes person for them to the local news and friends of Nevada State group. To read the post and see the video please click here.
Ready to Roar
In efforts to promote UNLV’s Public History Program’s work I did a guest spot on The Morning Blend to discuss our exhibit. We featured fifteen years of history in ten garments and five cases.
